Dear Valued Patients (Friends),
After more than 36 years of practicing optometry, I have finally decided that it was time for me to hang up my ophthalmoscope and retire. Well, sort of, as I will continue to work and see patients through much of 2020.
The reason I feel it is possible for me to step away from De Anza Vision Center is because of the tremendous confidence that I have in Dr. Stephanie Joo, O.D. (a fellow U.C. Berkeley School of Optometry Graduate) who has been an extremely valuable part of our practice for the last five years. She will continue to manage the practice by focusing on excellent vision care and health care, always trying to exceed your expectations. Dr. Joo possesses excellent diagnostic and patient care skills and has a real passion for managing the myopia epidemic in our community's very driven young students. She knows all too well about the ultra high demands, both academic and visual in nature, that the youth in our community endure. In fact, Dr. Joo is a product of our very own community as she graduated from Monta Vista High School as the young Stephanie Chen way back in...well I probably shouldn't say. Let me assure you, there will be no lapse in care for any of our many valued patients.
Of course, the practice would not be able to work without our tremendous staff, who will be here to help you through every phase of your visit to De Anza Vision Center. Our team, led by our manager, Junko, whom most of you already know and love, still consists of the very familiar faces that have been delivering high quality vision care to all of you. They will surely continue to provide you with the patient care and professionalism you have come to expect from them.
As always, you still have full access to your medical records. They will continue to be stored here on site (mostly as electronic medical records) at 1035 S. De Anza Blvd., Suite 1, San Jose, CA 95129.
I also want to assure you that all is fine with me and my family. Marilyn and I will be moving to Carlsbad, California. Carlsbad is most famous for being the home to Legoland, but it also should allow us to have a significantly slower, more relaxed pace in this next chapter of our lives. Our kids are done with school and are both working and living out on their own (heavy sigh).
I am forever grateful for the honor of you choosing me and my staff for your vision care needs. I know that Dr. Joo and everyone at De Anza Vision Center appreciates the opportunity to serve you and will stay true to our mission statement of providing superior vision care in a very personalized and comfortable setting.
Thank you again for making the middle chapter of my life so fulfilling and rewarding. I have very fond memories of our yearly visits and I will miss all of you dearly.
Sincerely,
Stephen Choy, O.D.
